Woman's cremains stolen from car in Virginia
According to the victim, a Virginia man's car was broken into in Iowa, and thieves took his late wife's cremated remains among other items pertaining to her death.
The Des Moines (Iowa) Register reported on Tuesday that Charles Duttweiler, 73, said he doesn't care about the other items stolen, including a new computer and thousands of dollars' worth of other items. He said he really only wants back his wife's cremains, her photographs, her death certificate and a laminated copy of her obituary.
Duttweiler said, "None of that would mean anything to the guy who took them.
The Register noted that Duttweiler is originally is from southeastern Iowa, and was in the area to arrange burial of his wife's cremains and a memorial service.
The newspaper further said that his wife, Shirley Duttweiler, 69, originally of Winfield, died of cancer and its complications in April.
The newspaper reported that the service was postponed while police search for the thief.
The remains were in a plastic bag, inside a black urn, which was inside a black box. Duttweiler's wife's name was on the box. (With Inputs from Agencies)
