We are the best and biggest democratic country in the world: Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan has plans to send out voice messages to everybody's mobile phone urging them to vote. The star will be recording this public message very soon that will be part of a social service initiative launched by an NGO called ADR (Association of Democratic Reform). At a press conference held at Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai, Aamir on Tuesday evening announced that he has shot three advertisements free of cost to support the campaign. The ads are penned by Prasoon Joshi and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The print ads have been done by Avinash Gowarikar. The TV ads are currently being dubbed in various languages and shall be aired all over.
“Our main agenda is asking people to please go and vote. Get the right information. And don’t sell your votes” Aamir informed. He further revealed that the idea hit him when he met the Dean of IIM Bangalore faculty Mr. Trilochan Shastri during the shooting of Raju Hirani's 3 Idiots and got really impressed with the kind of work ADR has been doing since the last eight years. Aamir said, “We are the biggest and the best democratic country in the world. We want to bring a positive change in the minds of people through ADR and ADR said they wanted me to help them out. I felt it was important for our society. Since they are all professors and teachers I decided to take up the cause.”
“When candidates contest for the elections we don’t know their backgrounds. We just go and vote only the people we know. I have been voting for the last five years but only for Mr. Sunil Dutt since I knew him. I was ignorant. They have opened my eyes. The ADR will reveal the educations, backgrounds the wealth they have amassed and if they have any criminal backgrounds so that we can vote for the right candidates from our constituency.” concluded Aamir.
Also present at the event, Dean of IIM Bangalore, Trilochan Shastri added, “We started 7 years ago and we have spread out in all the states of the country. We have retired judges, Generals and people from non political background working for us from the grass route level.” -Sampurn Media
