Washington is ‘No Drone Zone’

In a recently passed order, Washington has been declared as ‘no drone zone’. According to reports, now no one will be allowed to fly a drone in Washington and if someone tries to violate the decision, criminal penalties will be applicable.

Before this, some of the government building such as the White House, Capitol Hill and the Pentagon were among the ‘no drone zone’ locations.

On Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced in a statement that Washington is now a ‘no drone zone’ and if someone has a drone, then the person has to keep it at home. According to the agency, it wants to make sure that people in the area and tourists understand that flying drone in Washington for any purpose is now against the law and violators would have to pay fine.

The national aviation authority of the United States, FAA, said, “Rules put in place after the 9/11 attacks establish 'national defense airspace' over the DC area and limit aircraft operations, including unmanned aircraft, to those with an FAA and Transportation Security Administration authorization. Violators may face stiff fines and criminal penalties”.

FAA said that the rules have been implemented and no one should take it lightly. People can come to the Nation's Capital. They can bring their families, their cameras and other stuff, but they have to keep their drones at home, the agency added.

According to reports, ‘no drone zone’ covers about 15 miles radius of Ronald Reagan International Airport including some government buildings such as White House, Capitol Hill and the Pentagon. On Thursday, an individual was caught by the Secret Service with a small drone in a park outside the White House. After that, the White House was put on lockdown as a safety measure.
