Perth, Dec. 15 : WACA Ground curator Cameron Sutherland has pledged to create a pitch with far more life than the one encountered in Perth last January.

"It has a lot more life in it at the moment, a lot greener surface at the moment," said Sutherland said of the wicket today.

"Last year we had a Twenty20 final (right before the Test) ... and we were worried about damage to it so we actually got the Test wicket reasonably hard on the Sunday night and it was a longer preparation.

"It probably was like a day-two wicket on day one of the Test last year, so this year ... the surface is a lot greener and probably more where we want it to be than last year," the Courier Mail quoted him, as saying.

With Victorian Peter Siddle almost certain to make his home debut in place of the injured Stuart Clark, Australian selectors are still weighing up whether to select spinner Jason Krejza or all-rounder Shane Watson for the final spot.

Australia coach Tim Nielsen told reporters on Saturday he would consult with Sutherland before deciding whether to include a spinner.

Sutherland said the Test match pitch, which was used for Western Australia''s Sheffield Shield clash with Victoria last month, would cater for a spinner if they used the conditions correctly.

"The thing you get at the WACA with a spinner is bounce, and maybe if the Fremantle Doctor (local wind in Perth) comes in you get the drift," he said. (ANI)
