Voronin hat-trick sends Hertha four points clear
Hamburg - Andrey Voronin scored a hat-trick as Hertha Berlin defeated Energie Cottbus 3-1 away to open up a four-point lead at the top of the German Bundesliga on Saturday.
Champions Bayern Munich came from behind to thrash visiting Hanover 5-1 and are one of four teams level on 42 points, four behind Hertha.
Hoffenheim who fought out a goalless draw with visiting Werder Bremen, are joint second with Bayern, while Wolfsburg are fourth thanks to a 1-0 win over Karlsruhe.
Meanwhile SV Hamburg slumped to a 4-1 defeat at Borussia Moenchengladbach who move off the bottom, leaving Karlsruhe to prop up the table.
Improving VfB Stuttgart climbed to sixth with a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.
On Friday, Schalke defeated Cologne 1-0, while on Sunday Bayer Leverkusen play Bochum, and Arminia Bielefeld entertain Eintracht Frankfurt. (dpa)
