Vodafone, the Mumbai-based telecom service provider, announced on Wednesday that it is going to come up a music download service. The launch took place in Mumbai and would be available to all the Vodafone subscribers of the city.

The most attractive part of this is the price. It is going to be paltry Re.1 and would allow the user to download the whole song.

All one needs is a GPRS-enable handset and a Vodafone connection. One would also need to have an access to Vodafone Live. GPRS has been chosen as the medium since this is the fastest way in which music can be downloaded and also the easiest one.

The service would be available for both the prepaid and the postpaid subscribers. The users can also get downloads by sending SMS. A toll free number (111) has been provided for talking to an executive.

The only limit is that the users are allowed to download only 5 songs every day. The already selected songs can be reused on other days without making an extra payment for that.

Yesterday, a similar service was launched by Bharti Airtel.
