US, UK express concern over terror safe havens in Pak, Afghanistan
Washington, Mar. 4 : The United States President, Barack Obama has said that both the US and Britain are concerned about the safe havens that exist for terrorists inside Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Addressing a press conference following his meeting with British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, Obama said that despite the cohesive efforts of Washington and London in the `War on Terror', the situation in Afghanistan has worsened.
He also said that the north-western tribal region of Pakistan still remains a breeding ground of Al-Qaeda.
"The safe havens for Al Qaeda remain in the frontier regions of Pakistan," The Daily Times quoted Obama, as saying.
Commenting on the Afghanistan issue, Brown said that military action alone could not solve the problem in Afghanistan, as something more than a military confrontation is required to ensure peace in the region.
"The solution to Afghanistan was beyond military intervention," Brown said. (ANI)
