US fears no military uprising in Pak over Musharraf’s impeachment

George W. BushWashington, Aug 15 : The US is closely watching the ongoing political developments in Islamabad and President George W Bush is being regularly briefed about the same, a White House spokesperson has said.

She added the US was confident that there would be no military uprising in Pakistan while Impeachment proceedings are being finalised against President Pervez Musharraf.

There is no chance of military uprising in Pakistan while impeachment proceedings against President Pervez Musharraf are heading according to the law of the land and the constitution, The News quoted White House spokeswoman Dana Preno as saying.

According to her, there was “no chance” of military uprising in Pakistan as far as US’ knowledge about it is concerned.

About Musharraf’s impeachment, she said that impeachment proceedings were heading in the right direction and was according to Pakistan’s constitution.

“US is keeping a close eye on political developments taking place in Pakistan and President Bush is given briefing in this regard,” she said and added that the people of Pakistan would only decide about their leaders. She reiterated US would continue to support new government of Pakistan. (ANI)
