U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls C&T International/Sorelle cribsIt has been reported that the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of C&T International/Sorelle cribs due to strangulation and suffocation hazards.

It was also reported that about 170,000 drop-side cribs were imported from Italy, Latvia, Brazil, China and Vietnam by C&T International/Sorelle of East Rutherford, N. J., and sold nationwide from January 2000 through March 2010 for $300-$600.

The recall involves cribs branded as C&T International, Sorelle and Golden Baby cribs sold in 24 different styles, including Amelia, Alessandra, Chelsea and others. Model numbers are 180, 910, 185, 100, 170, 350, 303, 440, 810, 240, 395, 680, 135, 930, 900, 630, 710, 999, 195, 490, 870, 925, 485 and 245.

The drop-sides of the cribs can disengage from the tracks. The company has received 104 incident reports, including six reports of injuries to infants, the commission said.

It was also announced by the commission that consumers were advised to stop using the cribs and contact C&T/Sorelle for a free replacement kit. Consumers owning four older products, the Hampton (model 303), Jackie (440), Nina Pine (710) and Rita (490), may receive a $100 voucher if no replacement parts are available (With Inputs from Agencies)
