Washington, Nov 10 : The US has asked the Musharraf regime to grant freedom of movement to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

"Bhutto and other (politicians) must be permitted freedom of movement and all protesters should be released," US National Security Council Spokesman, Gordon Johndroe, said.

Earlier, Britain had said that it is very worried about the current developments taking place in Pakistan, particularly after Bhutto was put under house arrest on Friday morning.

"We are very worried by the developments in Pakistan which underline the need for a rapid return to constitutional rule. We continue to urge restraint in all situations," a spokesperson of the British Foreign Office said.

Bhutto had been put under house arrest, as she was going to lead a protest rally in Rawalpindi yesterday.

All the roads leading to her house have been blocked, and there is a huge presence of security forces on the roads.

Meanwhile, The News reported that countrywide transmission of international news channels like the BBC and the CNN have been obstructed once again.

The ban on international channels in the wake of imposition of a state of emergency was lifted on Thursday, but it was clamped once again on Friday morning, just before the scheduled rally of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto. (ANI)
