Two heart transplants performed at GH

Two heart transplants performed at GHTwo heart transplants have been performed by a group of doctors at the Government General Hospital's Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the past 3 weeks.

All departments in the hospital were urged to take the initiative to start such operations providing highly superior surgical skills alongside a cutting edge technology. This way, the service of the poor is aimed at.

The focus is more on post operative care for the poor and government hospitals have been granted the permission to distribute medicines locally in order to solve the problem of lack of medicine supply.

A request for help has been put forward to the Health Minister by surgeons of the hospital for providing equipments such as a Cryofreezer which aids in the otherwise difficult surgeries by the hospital doctors.

The earlier mentioned two transplants that were made recently were performed on two men both from the economically weaker section of the society. Both had been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy.

These two transplants were funded by the State Cadaver Organ Transplant Programme, and departments including the Traffic Police of the hospital. The condition of both the patients is now reported to be stable.
