Twitter releases "follow" button for Web sites
Micro blogging site, Twitter has released a new "follow" button allowing users to easily follow a Web site or an individual.
The users clicking on the button will be able to quickly and easily sign up and follow particular Twitter users instead of receiving a feed of articles. The new feature will be different from the traditional RSS feed.
Dick Costolo, Twitter's chief executive, said in a blog post that brands and publishers can easily add the ‘follow’ button to their sites and use the social network to connect to their audience.
"People who follow your account are much more likely to retweet and engage with your Tweets, and to repeatedly visit your website. Adding the Follow Button to your website is quick and easy, and you can configure yours right now at twitter. com/followbutton," he wrote.
Twitter has said that it is launching the new button with several famous individuals and brands. The brands that partner Twitter include AOL, About. me, CBS, cnet. com, CNNMoney, Condé Nast, EL PAÍS, Fox News, GQ, MarketWatch, maxpreps. com, MTV, Radio. com, Sports Illustrated, The Huffington Post, The Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Wired, WordPress. com, Yahoo!, etc.
Individuals backing the ‘Follow’ button included Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Ryan Seacrest and others.
