TV In Mobile Phones – A Service For BSNL GSM Users
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has unveiled its ‘TV in mobile handset’ service in some parts of the country.
GSM users of BSNL will now be capable of watching as many as 12 TV channels on their mobile sets (phones). The different channels include Aaj Tak, Times Now, NDTV, CNBC, ETV, TV9, Zoom and Bindaas.
Arounf 32 TV channels are likely to be brought under the ‘TV in mobile handset’ network by the end of the existing year (2007).
Presently, select Nokia handsets will access the new service, and shortly it will be extended to Motorola and Sony Ericsson handsets.
Apalya Technologies will supply content (TV signals) made available on BSNL GSM phones.
To view TV content on their phones, BSNL GSM users will be required to visit mimobi.tv through their phones.
For the next 30 days, the service is free, and is available (presently) in the Eastern and North Eastern regions of India.
