Tokyo stocks open higher on weaker yen
Tokyo - The Tokyo stock market opened higher Tuesday on the US dollar's advance against the yen.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 101.55 points, or 1.12 per cent, to 9,144.67.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues was up 4.6 points, or 0.53 per cent, to 880.51.
On the currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 93.18-23 yen, up from late Monday's quote of 92.01-03 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.3635-40 dollars, down from Monday's 5 pm quote of 1.3927-29 dollars, and at 127.09-14 yen, down from 128.15-19 yen. (dpa)
