Thirty Lakh More Jobs By 2011
The government of Tamil Nadu is working on formulating new policy for industry in the state. The state Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi released new Information and Communication Technology policy. The new policy by state government is aimed to reduce unemployment rate in the state. The government wants to create about 3 million jobs by 2011.
The new policy wants state to lead in south Asia in employment generation. The government will help the industry by reducing taxes and supporting them in installation of proper infrastructure in the state. The state will also develop new center of excellence and finishing schools. Its policy also includes enhancing soft skills and inclusion of industry expert in the syllabus forming body to impart relevant higher education to students.
The state government is also committed to provide broadband connectivity to all schools by 2011. It will also invest over Rs 250 crore to setup IT-ITES facilities in Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram districts. The government will facilitates R & D work with industry collaboration and develop centre for excellence in public private modes.
The Chief Minister introduced ICT policy to A. Raja, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology. The meeting was also attended by IIT-Madras Director M.S. Ananth, Anna University Vice-Chancellor Mannar Jawahar, M. Ramaswami and C.K.Raganathan from the CII, Chief Secretary L.K.Tripathy, Finance Secretary K.Gnanadesikan and Industries Secretary M.F.Farooqui.
