London, Jan. 26 : A computer data disk containing personal details of around 2,000 members of British Council staff has been lost.

According to a report in The Mirror, the lost disc contains names, national insurance numbers, salary and bank account details of the Council''s UK staff, and is the latest in a string of cases of official information going astray in recent months.

The British Council says that the missing disk was securely encrypted to keep its contents safe if it falls into the wrong hands.

London, January 26 : Search engine giant Google will soon come up with a system that may make the personal computer virtually redundant, predict technology experts.

The GDrive system will merge Google''s all existing web-based services to make them easier to use together.

Industry reports suggest that the ''GDrive'' would enable users to store almost all their data on the Internet, and access it from wherever they are.

In its latest report, a top internet marketing research firm comScore revealed that the global number of internet users has crossed nearly 1 billion mark during the last month (December 2008), with 41.3% coming from the Asia-Pacific region.

The comScore survey looked at Internet users aged above 15, who accessed the net from their home or work PCs during December 2008.

In a significant move, Internet giant, Google has decided to close down its Print Ads service.

While commenting on this major move, Google Print Ads director Spencer Spinnell said, “The company would stop selling print ads from 28 February and all previously purchased campaigns would cease by the end of March.”

Spinnell further added that the product did not deliver the kind of results as the company was looking for.

“The product has not created the impact that we or our partners wanted,” pointed Spinnell.

Option N.V has made announcement about the launching of its new 3G wireless router, named GlobeSurfer III in the market.

The router, specifically designed for mobile operators, valued added resellers and distributors, can easily be connected to external hard drives via its USB interface, which permits users to share and transfer different files and documents.
