Motorola has rolled out its hand-sculpted mobile phone named ‘AURA’, which is priced at Rs 1,11,492.

Targeted at trend-setter Indian, the new luxury and stylish handset was launched by Bollywood superstar and Motorola’s brand ambassador Abhishek Bachchan in Mumbai on Friday.

Junior Bachchan presented the first ‘Aura’ to ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Taipei  - The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker, is expected to announce that it has won an import contract from Intel Corp, a Taiwan newspaper reported.

According to the United Daily News, TSMC has won an Intel contract to supply mobile Internet device (MID) and the Intel Atom processors to Intel.

Intel and TSMC are scheduled to announce a "strategic alliance" in a joint news conference at 1700 GMT in Santa Clara, California, the paper quoted an unnamed industry source as saying.

Dusseldorf, Germany  - The loss of accidentally deleted computer files can be a catastrophe. Yet "deleted" files are not always really gone from your computer. In many cases they can still be recovered, even if no backup was ever created. An attempt at using special data recovery software to fix the problem is usually a good, first step.

A study by the data recovery company Kroll Ontrack shows that defective hardware is responsible for more than half the cases involving data loss.

"One in four is attributable to user error, though," explains Stephanie Hennig from Kroll Ontrack. That includes the accidental deletion of files.

Hamburg  - Computer users can generally rely on their data recovery software, the Hamburg-based magazine Computerbild concluded in a recent test of five programs. The editors recreated various files from a hard drive as well as removable media such as storage cards and sticks.

When files are deleted from the computer's recycling bin, the operating system releases the storage space for overwriting. Hence the rule of thumb - the sooner the user starts the recovery process, the greater the chances of recovering the data intact.

Hanover  - Users of home networks may want to consider a networked hard drive to provide communal access to music, photos, videos and data. Also known as Network Attached Storage (NAS), these compact devices work quietly, are simple to set up, and use only 10 watts on average, reports the Hanover-based c't magazine.

By comparison, a PC left running around the clock uses at least 60 watts, even if only rarely used to call up data.

As NAS hard drives generally offer incredibly large amounts of storage space, they are well equipped to serve as a backup space for a PC or laptop's hard drive. Almost all operating systems can now handle daily backups of this type.
