ISO Rejects Appeals Against Microsoft`s OOXML Format

The software giant Microsoft has a reason to celebrate. The International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) has rejected appeals against the file format of Open XML (OOXML). The countries such as Brazil, South Africa and Venezuela had challenged the ratification regarding file format of OOXML. The ISO had given OOXML as a title of international standard and asked the participant countries to file the appeal against the decision in two months.

Take Two is the publisher of the controversial, but highly successful game series Grand Theft Auto - selling 8.5 million copies of the latest version in the quarter that ended in June.

Iran calls launch of satellite carrier scientific, not military Tehran - Iran on Monday said that the launching of its satellite carrier was a scientific rather than military project, official news agency IRNA reported.

"The enemies of Iran are trying to distort Iran's scientific achievements and portray them as a military issue," Defence Minister Mostafa-Mohammad Najar was quoted by IRNA as saying.

Bronze Age and Iron Age artifacts unearthed in Myanmar

New Delhi, August 18 : A team of archaeologists has unearthed ancient artifacts from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age in Myanmar.

Found in Thazi township in the central Mandalay division by the Archaeological, Natural Museum and Libraries Department under the Ministry of Culture, the artifacts provide an evidence of transition from Bronze culture to Iron culture in Myanmar.

Foreign archaeologists once considered that in the early history, Myanmar was transferred from Stone Age into the Iron Age without flourishing of Bronze culture.
