Melbourne, Nov 3 : The cheapest place in the world to buy an Apple iPod is Australia, owing to the dramatic fall in the country’s dollar in the last several months, says a new study.

The study conducted by CommSec reflects its "iPod index", which measures the price of an 8GB iPod nano in 62 countries to compare currencies.

According to CommSec chief economist Craig James, Australia went to the cheapest spot after being placed 14th cheapest in July.

The study revealed that an 8GB iPod costs 131.95 US Dollars.

London, Nov 3 : Researchers suggest that an effect used since the early days of cinema to make the action appear smoother can actually help in improving our perception of jerky videos sent to cellphones.

Earlier, fast music helped to create an illusion of motion in movies that could make the action appear smoother.

The research team led by Salvador Soto Faraco at the University of Barcelona, Spain recruited 15 people and showed them films of flashing discs of light that increased or decreased in size.

When the discs flashed rapidly, they appeared to move forwards or recede.

At lower flash rates, they only appeared to move when accompanied with beeps that increased or decreased in volume, reports New Scientist magazine.

The Indian Space Research Organisation said on Friday that terrific shots of earth from space in black and white have been taken by the terrain mapping camera onboard India's first unmanned lunar spacecraft Chandrayaan-1.

In a statement issued by the space agency it said, “The camera was operated through a series of commands from the spacecraft control centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)'s telemetry, tracking and command network (Istrac) here. The images were received by the deep space network (DSN) at Byalalu.”
