Cairo - Internet users in Egypt experienced a considerable improvement in internet services on Sunday two days after nearly 80 per cent of the country's internet network went down when several submarine cables in the Mediterranean Sea linking Europe and the Middle East were cut.

The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said in an earlier statement that by Sunday nearly 85 per cent of internet services are recovered as internet traffic has been shifted from the damaged Mediterranean cables to alternative service providers.

The statement also explained that "in an unprecedented incident" six undersea cables were damaged, including three cables linking Italy to the Middle East, one to North Africa and two to Malta.

A lawsuit filed against two Indian brothers, who’s RJ Software had created the word game `Scrabulous' on the Facebook has been settled by Hasbro. Apparently, the game is very similar to Hasbro's own Scrabble. The game was created by Kolkata-based Jayant and Rajat Agarwalla since they were unable to find an online version of `Scrabble' that they liked.

Following when Hasbro filed the lawsuit this summer, Scrabulous was removed from Facebook and replaced with a Hasbro-sanctioned version of online Scrabble.

Munich  - Fujitsu Siemens is offering its first laptop with external graphics: the AMILO Notebook Sa 3650 works with a device the company is calling a "GraphicBooster." This primarily consists of a 18 x 13 x 3.35 cm case containing an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 graphics card with 512 MB of memory. The manufacturer claims that the GraphicBooster speeds up processing four-fold over the machine's ATI Radeon HD 3200 working alone.

Berlin  - Unwanted files can cripple even speedy computers. Optimisation software promises to help, but in some cases it actually causes harm. It's often more effective to take out the data trash on your own.

"Many applications configure themselves to automatically start up when the operating system boots to look for updates," explains Peter Knaak, technology expert for the German consumer testing organisation Stiftung Warentest in Berlin. "That slows down the startup of Windows significantly."
