Sudan expelled 13 international organizations in early March from the restive Darfur region and dissolved three Sudanese non- governmental organizations working in North Sudan, after the International Criminal Court indicted Sudanese President Omar al- Bashir for war crimes.

Rights groups say many will die in Darfur unless aid ban is lifted Johannesburg - A group of human rights groups on Wednesday warned that "millions" of people would die of hunger and disease in the Sudanese province of Darfur unless the government of war-crimes-accused President Omar al-Bashir allowed aid agencies to operate.

The government shut out 13 international and three local aid agencies on March 4 after the International Criminal Court issued an international warrant for al-Bashir's arrest for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.

Darfur kidnappers want 200 million dollars for aid workers Nairobi  - A group that has kidnapped two aid workers with French organization Aide Medicale Internationale in Sudan's restive Darfur province has demanded a massive ransom for their release, media reports said Monday.

The Sudan Tribune, citing a news service close to Sudanese intelligence, said that the unidentified kidnappers want 200 million dollars to release the French and Canadian citizens.

The two workers were taken from AMI's compound in Ed El-Fursan, southern Darfur, on Saturday night.

Sudan presidential and parliamentary elections postponed to 2010 Nairobi/Khartoum  - The Sudanese election commission has put back both the presidential and the parliamentary elections planned for 2009 until next year, local media have reported.

The Sudan Tribune quoted Abdellah Ahmed Abdellah, deputy chairman of Sudans National Electoral Commission as saying on Friday that the commission had decided to postpone both polls by seven months, to February 2010.
