Gandhinagar, Apr 28 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani on Tuesday strongly questioned the Central Bureau of Investigation''''s decision to remove the name of the lone surviving suspect in the Bofors payoff case Ottavio Quattrocchi from the Interpol''''s list of most wanted persons.

"Overall the performance of CBI in the last five years, it should be investigated. In a way they have become a tool in the hands of political parties," Advani said during a road show in Gandhinagar.

Gandhinagar, Apr 8 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate L K Advani filed his nomination papers from Gandhinagar constituency today.

Advani was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Advani will be seeking a fifth term from Gandhinagar after his victory from this constituency in 1991, 1998, 1999 and 2004.

His main rivals are Congress nominee Suresh Patel and noted danseuse Mallika Sarabhai, who is making her electoral debut as an independent.

Patel is Congress MLA from Kalol for the second time.

Gandhinagar, Feb 20 : Gujarat Assembly Speaker Ashok Bhatt on Friday revoked the suspension of 16 Congress MLAs, three days after they had created disturbance during the budget session.

The MLAs had shouted slogans and displayed placards in the House on February 17 when the Governor began his speech.

Following that, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Amit Shah, moved a motion to suspend the 16 MLAs.

After the MLA's suspension, the Congress boycotted Assembly proceedings and held a sit-in demonstration outside the Speaker's office.

Gandhinagar, Jan 21 : The Special Investigation Team (SIT), re-investigating into nine post- Godhra riot cases is expected to submit its report to Supreme Court by February 15.

The Supreme Court formed the five-member SIT to re-investigate the Godhra train burning case and some post-Godhra riot cases.

Several prominent leaders like, Maya Kodnani of BJP and Jaydeep Patel of Vishwa Hindu Parishad are at the center of investigation, following many witnesses naming them in their statements in the Naroda Gam riot case.
