Symonds to play 100th match for Queensland on Thursday
Brisbane, Feb. 25: Out-of-favour Australian all rounder Andrew Symonds is set to play his 100th first class match for Queensland when the Bulls host New South Wales in a crunch Sheffield Shield fixture at the Gabba here.
"I knew I was somewhere in the 90s, but with everything that''s been going on, I had no idea I''d got to 100," the Courier Mail quoted Symonds, who played in Queensland''s Ford Ranger Cup final win on Sunday, as saying today.
"I''ve never been a big scoreboard watcher while I''m batting though so I''m not surprised that this one got away from me a bit. Obviously getting to 100 games is very special to me. I''ve always taken a great deal of pride and pleasure in playing for my State, and likewise my country, so this game is going to be very memorable I hope," he added.
With two rounds to go, Queensland is in third place on the Sheffield Shield ladder - two points behind Tasmania - and desperately needs a victory over NSW to push for a spot in the final, to be hosted by Victoria. (ANI)
