Spinners behind Sri Lankan team success
Sri Lanka will take on West Indies in the second semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Oval on Friday.
Sri Lanka had won all the five matches in this tournament and the main reason for their success is the spinning pair of M Muralitharan and mystery bowler Ajantha Mendis.
Mendis has taken 11 wickets in the five matches he played in the tournament which is just one less than the 12 wickets of Umar Gul who is leading wicket-taker of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Former captain Mahela Jayawardene said that Murali and Mendis are the greatest strengths of their team. He further added that Murali can spin bowl on any track and if Mendis stick to his plan, then these both can destroy any batting side in the cricketing world.
Mendis took 3 wickets for just 9 runs in his three overs as Sri Lanka defeated New Zealand by 48 runs in their last Super Eights match at Trent Bridge on Tuesday.
