Soren claims RJD support for chief ministership
New Delhi, Aug 21 : Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) supremo Shibu Soren on Thursday claimed that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has promised to support his bid for chief ministership.
Soren, who arrived in Delhi on Wednesday to muster support from the UPA leaders to make a comeback as Jharkhand Chief Minister met Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav today.
After the meeting, Soren told repoters that the RJD chief had not only promised his party''s backing, but also assured him of help in securing the support of Independents.
JMM General Secretary Hemlal Murmu accompanied Soren.
Before leaving for Delhi on Wednesday, Soren has claimed the support of 45 legislators in the 82-member Assembly.
Assuring him of support, AICC Secretary Abdul Manan said that nine Congress MLAs would support Soren on the floor of the House and also make efforts to make him the chief minister.
Meanwhile, Koda has expressed confidence in winning the trust vote on August 25. (ANI)
