Reports have been circulating that Motorola is all set to release a successor to its highly popular Droid smartphone, and it will be released as the Motorola Droid Devour. Many specifications, and some alleged pictures, of the mobile handset have been released over time, and now some more details have emerged about the same.

BGR has reportedly revealed some new specs for the Devour, which will be based on Google's Android platform, and will be the third Verizon device to run on Google's mobile operating system.

Initially, the Devour was christened the "Calgary", and it is now most likely to be launched in two colorways, black and silver. The silver casing seems to be an all new development.

Rumor has it that the phone's operating system will be Android 2.1, which has so far been confirmed only for Google's very own smartphone, the Nexus One. The phone will also be equipped with MOTOBLUR, which is the company's Android user interface which connects social networking, emails and feeds through RSS.

Reports are that the phone will only work on the Verizon network and also have support for the carrier's very own EV-DO mobile broadband network. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi will be in-built, and the Devour will have a full QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad, a 3.2 megapixel integrated camera and GPS receiver, among many other interesting features.
