The big news doing the rounds is that Slumdog Millionaire’s female star might just be the highest paid Indian actress in the Hindi film industry.

The latest report has disclosed that Freida Pinto has put back all her Indian contenders, and become the highest paid actress in Bollywood.

Miss Pinto came to limelight after the record-breaking success of Slumdog, which won eight Oscars and whose worldwide box office collections thus far are estimated at more than USD 270 millions.

Her attitude and demeanor have won millions of admirers from Mumbai to Los Angeles and London and many places that lie in between.

Projects with top directors like Woody Allen and Julian Schnabel have catapulted the actress into Hollywood’s A-list.

If trade guesses are to be trusted, Freida’s rate is soon going to be between Rs 13 to 15 crore.

In this way, she has pushed ahead of Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Aishwarya Rai, to become the highest paid Bollywood beauty.

Now-a-days, Freida is in Israel to prepare for shooting a new movie by Julian Schnabel. Shooting on "Miral" is planned to begin by the coming month, immediately after Pesach. The screenplay focuses on the interwoven lives of a few Israeli and Palestinian women, from the early years of the state through the early 1990s.

A film analyst said, “Freida is fast reaching top status in the international arena. The actress's projects with big film-makers like Woody Allen have helped her join a league which no other Indian actress has achieved so far.”

In the report, Anirban Das, CEO of her management company, said, “Freida can't be compared to Aishwarya, because we're not pitching her as an Indian girl in international films. Freida is a true global face.”

Pinto, 24, started her career as a model in Mumbai, switching to film acting only after British director Danny Boyle discovered her at an audition for "Slumdog Millionaire."
