The 20th Lal Bahadur Shastri hockey tournament will kick off in Gurgaon’s Nehru Stadium on Nov 28 with Punjab National Bank taking on ONGC in the inaugural match.

Eight teams divided into two pools will vie for top honours with defending champions BPCL placed in Pool B along with Army XI, Namdhari XI and Air India. Pool A comprises last year’s runners
-up IOC, ONGC, PNB and South Central Railway. The final will be played on Dec 5. The event will see a committee of experts picking the best player of the tournament.

Mother International school wins

Mother International School qualified for the quarterfinals of the ONGC Hind Kishore football tournament beating Hans Raj School, Punjabi Bagh, 5-0 at Ambedkar Stadium. The winners led 3-0 after 45 minutes. This was the second successive win for Mother International. Elsewhere, CRPF Rohini played a goalless draw against Ganga International School.
