Sharif brothers file appeal against rejection of nomination papers
Islamabad, Dec 7: The Sharif brothers, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have filed appeal against the rejection of their nomination papers.
They have appealed to the Pakistan’s Chief Election Commissioner Qazi Farooq to reconsider their nomination papers for contesting the forthcoming general elections.
They argued that their nomination papers were rejected without any justification so the decision of the rejection should be reconsidered.
Though the reason for the rejection of Nawaz’s nomination papers had not been made public, reports suggest that PML-N chief's papers were rejected on the ground of various cases pending against him, including the plane-hijacking case that followed the 1999 bloodless military coup.
The candidacy of Shahbaz Sharif had been rejected because of pending criminal charges against him, election authorities said. (ANI)
