Security tightened at Tiruchirapalli airport following bomb threat
Tiruchirapalli, Mar 21 : Security at Tiruchirapalli airport was tightened on Saturday after a message was received at Kolkata airport threatening bombs explosions at airports in Southern India.
A city police team was deployed along with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) within the airport complex.
A Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad was also called in to conduct checks.
According to the police, an anonymous caller telephoned the duty manager at Kolkata Airport and said bombs would go off in all airports in Southern India.
The call was traced to a local PCO.
Police have ordered the deployment of a seven-layer security at all airports in Southern India, including Tiruchirapalli.
Passengers and visitors are being subjected to three rounds of checks. (ANI)
