Satya Nadella sees Cloud as huge enabler of consumer services & entrepreneurial growthMicrosoft is working to offer a broad range of Azure cloud offerings to pick up the pace economic growth and penetrate cloud services in India, the world's biggest software firm's newly appointed CEO Satya Nadella said.

In a recent interview, Hyderabad-based Nadella said India is one of the few countries where Microsoft has the entire range of our operations, with a workforce of more than 6,000 people.

He stressed on the need to focus on cloud, saying it would be big enabler of consumer services as well as entrepreneurial growth.

Speaking on the topic, he said, "The cloud is going to be a huge enabler of consumer services and entrepreneurial growth.  We are working with our partners to provide a wide range of Azure cloud offerings to accelerate economic growth and breakthrough cloud services in India."

Before be elevated to the top post at Microsoft, Nadella was the head of Microsoft's Cloud & Enterprise business.  As the head of the Cloud business, he worked towards developing and operating computing programs, developer tools and various cloud services.

Born in 1967 in Hyderabad, Nadella got his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics & Communication from India's Manipal University.  Then, he moved to the United States, where he gained his Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  Then, he went on to earn an MBA degree from Booth School of Business of University of Chicago.

He joined Microsoft Corp in 1992.
