Rihanna postpones Malaysian concert after assault allegations
Kuala Lumpur - R&B superstar Rihanna has delayed a planned concert in Malaysia this week, following reports that she accused boyfriend and fellow performer Chris Brown of assault, a news report said Tuesday.
Rihanna, a Grammy award winner, was due to perform in the capital Kuala Lumpur on February 13 as part of her Good Girl Gone Bad world tour, but organizers confirmed Tuesday that the show has been postponed.
Local organisers Pineapple Concerts said in a statement that Rihanna's management would confirm a replacement date within two weeks.
"We sincerely regret this unavoidable shift in schedule and apologise to the fans for any inconvenience caused," the Star online news portal quoted the statement as saying.
Rihanna had allegedly told police that Brown had hurt her on Saturday, the night before the Grammy Awards where both were scheduled to make an appearance.
A police report indicated the woman was injured, but Brown was booked on suspicion of making a criminal threat.
Rihanna's Kuala Lumpur leg was to come amid strong objections from hardline Islamists, who claim her performances were unsuitable for local audiences. (dpa)
