Lucknow, Mar 29 : Bollywood actor-cum-Samajwadi Party candidate, Sanjay Dutt on Sunday faced students' ire after he failed to meet them as videly expected at the college campus here. He is Samajwadi Party's candidate from Lucknow constituency.

Dutt's convoy was pelted stones allegedly by university students for not meeting them.

Dutt had come to meet the college staff and students to seek their support for the upcoming general elections.

Pilibhit, Mar 28 : Over twenty activists of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) got injured when police resorted to baton charge on them as they were staging protest against the arrest of party leader Varun Gandhi.

Five policemen are also reported to be injured.

Tension prevailed in the town as thousands of Varun's supporters came to the district jail where Varun was taken.

The activists allegedly attacked officials, destroyed police vehicles and indulged in bouts of stone throwing.

Gorakhpur, Mar 28 : Bhojpuri actor and the Samajwadi Party (SP) leader from Gorakhpur, Manoj Tiwari, filed his nomination papers for Parliament elections on Saturday.

Bollywood actor-turned politician Sanjay Dutt was present on the occasion. Sanjay Dutt is expected to campaign for Tiwari.

Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan, actor-turned politician Jayaparda and SP General Secretary Amar Singh are also expected to participate in the campaign.

Bareilly/New Delhi, Mar 28 : Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kalraj Mishra here today said that he would be heading to Pilibhit to give party''s support to Varun Gandhi.

"Varun Gandhi is a candidate of the BJP. And party would try its best to make him win at every stage. We would be standing with him at every stage. We will try our best that we don''t violate the election code of conduct, " said Mishra, who is the election-in-charge of Uttar Pradesh BJP and former party president.
