Krishna's custody extended by 4 days

Krishna, CBIGhaziabad, June 23 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been given additional four days custody of Krishna in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case here today.

Krishna, worked as a compounder in 14-year old Aarushi's dentist father Rajesh Talwar’s clinic.

The agency arrested Krishna on June 13, while stating he had confessed to his involvement in the murder of Aarushi and the Talwar family's domestic help Hemraj.

Dr. Talwar, has already been under arrest since May 23 after Noida police claimed that he had murdered Aarushi and Hemraj on the intervening night of May 15-16.

Development activities in Sonbhadra to curb Naxalism

UP Maoists (Sonbhadra) U. P., June 20 : Development activities in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh hope to contain the spread of naxalism in the area.

Inhabited by a large proportion of tribals, the area has been home to Naxalites for a long time. The Naxalites usually hide in jungles and to effectively chase them, proper roads are a must.

Likewise, police stations are being upgraded alongside building of helipads to ensure a hassle-free transportation during any crisis.

Floods in Orissa, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh

Bhubaneswar / Kolkata /Uttar Pradesh/ Guwahati/, June 19 : The flood situation in Orissa, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand has affected the normal life while Assam showed some signs of improvement with cessation of rain.

In Orissa, over ten lakh people have been affected by the current flood in Balesore, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj district. Twenty seven low-laying coastal gram panchayats of Bhadrak district are still marooned.

In West Bengal the flood situation in Midnapore district turned worse with fresh areas inundated by the Subarnarekha River, leaving nearly three lakh people marooned.

Rahul Gandhi extends financial aid to kin of hailstorm victims

RAhul GandhiKochit (Uttar Pradesh), June 2: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi accompanied by his sister Priyanka Vadra and brother-in-law Robert Vadra, today met family members of victims who had lost their lives in a hailstorm on May 16.

Gandhi, who was on his way to attend the Rajiv Gandhi cricket tournament, being held in his parliamentary constituency of Amethi, listened to the problems of the injured and also offered financial help to them.

"Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi visited the place today. Rahul Gandhi had come to meet the family of the victims and extended financial and medical aid," said Ram Shankar, a local.
