Indian boy commits suicide over 10 cents

Uttar PradeshNew Delhi - An Indian boy, afraid of being scolded by his impoverished family for stealing five rupees (10 cents), committed suicide at his home in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh, media reports said Sunday. Twelve-year-old Zahir, a resident of state capital Lucknow had demanded the money from his elder sister for eating out on Saturday, the CNN-IBN network reported. After she refused, Zahir allegedly stole the money from the house.

When his sister came to know about it, she threatened that she would tell their parents. Afraid of being scolded, the boy committed suicide by hanging himself on the terrace of the house, the report said.

MayawatiLucknow, Apr 25 : Uttar Pradesh Congress unit chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Saturday slammed state Chief Minister Mayawati for not utilizing Central Government funds allotted for the development of the state properly.

“Mayawati-led Uttar Pradesh Government has misused the money allotted by the Central Government for the development of the State. The millions of rupees handed over to the state under the Jawaharlal Nehru City Development scheme were used to build statues. If Mayawati comes to power, she will turn around the look of the city,” Joshi said during a roadshow here.

Judgment in second Nithari case to be delivered todayGhaziabad, Apr 25 : The judgment in second Nithari rape and murder case of 8-year-old Aarti will be delivered by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Judge here today.

Aarti was the last known victim in the Nithari killings, having disappeared just about two months before the case was busted.

In the previous judgment in the Nithari killings, the special CBI court on February 12 awarded the death sentence to Moninder Singh Pandher and Surinder Koli for their respective roles in the Rampa Haldar murder case.
