Vietnam Airlines to retrieve passengers stranded in Bangkok Hanoi  - Vietnam Airlines will send a "rescue flight" Tuesday for passengers stranded in Thailand by protests that have shut down Bangkok's airports, but is having difficulty gaining landing permission for more flights, a company official said Monday.

"We will continue to help stranded passengers come home as soon as possible by arranging flights from Vietnam to U-Tapao airport," said Vietnam Airlines Bangkok representative Ngo Duc Thang.

"The prime minister and foreign minister will decide at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday whether to postpone the summit," Foreign Ministry spokesman Tharit Charungvat said.

Philippines to repatriate Filipinos stranded in BangkokManila  - Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Sunday ordered the foreign affairs department to repatriate hundreds of Filipinos stranded in Thailand after two airports in Bangkok were shut down by political protestors last week.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said Arroyo ordered the release of 15,000 dollars for assistance to the Filipinos unable to return home after the Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok were blockaded.

Bangkok  - Brushing off bomb attacks on his followers and mounting damages done to the country, a core leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) vowed Sunday to remain at Bangkok's airports until they were victorious in toppling the government.

PAD leader Chamlong Srimuang told supporters at Government House, the site of a grenade attack early Sunday that injured 46 PAD members, that the political standoff between the demonstrators and government would have a "victor" on Tuesday.
