Pakistani soldiers cross Kashmir border, kill Indian trooperSrinagar, Kashmir  - An Indian soldier died after Pakistani troopers crossed the Line of Control dividing the disputed territory of Kashmir on Monday and opened fire on an army post, Indian officials said.

An army spokesman said a group of 12 Pakistani soldiers entered India-administered Kashmir through the Nowgam sector in northern Kupwara district and started firing after an argument.

"One soldier of the 15 Rajputana Rifles was killed in the Pakistani firing which triggered retaliatory firing from our side," the defence spokesman said.

 15 Pakistani soldiers cross LoC, an army jawan killedSrinagar, July 28 : An Army jawan was killed on Monday as Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions in Nowgaon sector of Kupwara district near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, army sources said.

The sources said heavy fire from across the LoC started at around 3.30 p. m. at Khayan in Nowgam sector.

An Army jawan from 22nd Rajput battalion has been killed so far, the sources said.

According to reports, Indian troops retaliated the heavy firing with small arms fire.

Violent protests continue in Jammu over Amarnath Shrine row

Irate mobs raised slogans and pelted stones on policemen, burnt tyres and destroyed vehicles on the streets as part of their protest against the government for revoking a decision to transfer forestland to a Hindu shrine trust in the Muslim-majority part of Kashmir.

30 injured in protests over Hindu shrine land in Indian Kashmir

Jammu & KashmirSrinagar, Kashmir - At least 30 people were injured in India-administered Kashmir's summer capital of Jammu on Saturday when Hindu protestors clashed with police to protest the cancellation of transfer of land for a popular Hindu pilgrimage.

Jammu, a Hindu majority region in the mostly Muslim state has been observing a shut-down since Thursday against the state government's revoking its earlier order of transferring 40 hectares of forest land to a trust that organizes the annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave.

5 killed, 18 injured in Srinagar grenade attack

Srinagar, July 24 : At least five people were reportedly killed and 18 others injured in a grenade blast at Batmaloo bus stand here today.

According to official sources, some unidentified persons hurled a grenade on a Jammu-bound bus at the bus stand located in the periphery of Lal Chowk at around noon.

Meanwhile, a surrendered Hizbul Mujahideen militant Ghulam Hassan Wani and three of his family members were killed in a terror attack in Doda district.

According to police, militants opened fired on all four who were sleeping when they barged into his house in Marmath Badi village in the district early this morning.

Three killed in grenade attack in Kashmir capital Srinagar

SrinagaJammu and Kashmirr, India - Three people were killed and at least seven injured in a grenade attack by suspected Islamic militants at a bus stand in the heart of the capital of the northern Indian sate Jammu and Kashmir Srinagar on Thursday, police said.

Police said there could be more people injured but were waiting for further details.

Militants stepped up their activities in Jammu and Kashmir recently, killing at least 13 people and injuring more than 40 in various incidents since Sunday.
