Muralitharan says Hayden is batting like GodMelbourne, Apr 24 : Star Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has revealed his joy playing alongside Matthew Hayden in the IPL, comparing the opener's performances to God.

After watching his Chennai Super Kings teammate smash 57 of 27 balls against the Delhi Daredevils last night, Muralitharan said: "It's a joy to watch him bat like that. He is a dangerous batsman. Hayden is batting like God here."

The Chennai Super Kings' off-spinner said he was confident that his team could win when Hayden was at the crease, The Age reported.

Sri Lankan military trying to locate hideout of Tamil rebel leader

Velupillai PrabakaranColombo : Government troops fought their way into some of the last Tamil rebel-held areas in a north-eastern Sri Lanka on Friday, with special focus on locating the hideout of the rebel leader Velupillai Prabhkaran, military officials said.

The officials said that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which had been capturing visual images from air, also have been used to monitor the movements of the rebels and locate the area where the rebel leader is believed to be hiding.

Prabhakaran''s hide out, adding that the guerrillas now controlled a mere 10-12 square kilometres of territory on the northeast coast, where thousands of civilians are still trapped by the fighting.

The army claim as Seevaratnam Puleedevan, secretary-general of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) peace secretariat, urged the international community to intervene by forcing a permanent ceasefire, which Sri Lanka has ruled out.

Government troops take on rebel targets on northern Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Colombo- Government troops Thursday thrust further into the last areas held by Tamil rebels on Sri Lanka's north-eastern coast, military officials said, as the United Nations Security Council called on the rebels to surrender.

More than 2,000 civilians escaped from the Puthmathalan area, 390 kilometres north-east of the capital Colombo, Thursday morning, putting the total number of civilians who fled the area since Monday to 102,790.

UN Security Council discusses situation in Sri Lanka New York  - The United Nations Security Council met Wednesday to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka, where more than 100,000 refugees have fled rebel-held areas.

The informal meeting was requested by France, the country's UN Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert told reporters. He said he had no doubt that the 15-nation Security Council will arrive at a consensus to call for a truce or a ceasefire.
