Landmine blast kills five in Chattisgarh

ChattisgarhRaipur, Nov. 25 : At least five policemen of the District Force (DF) have been reportedly killed in a landmine blast triggered by naxalites in Bastar district of Chattisgarh today.

Inspector General of Police (Bastar), A N Upadhaya said that the naxals blew up a bridge killing five policemen on the spot and injuring at least two DF personnel near the Mardapal and Kondagaon areas of the district.

The force was returning after election duty from Narayanpur assembly constituency, where re - polling was held on Monday.

They halted in Mardapal last night after the polls and were returning to Kondagaon, Upadhaya added.

Repolling underway in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, ChhattisgarhRaipur, Nov 24 : Repolling is taking place in 33 booths spread over seven Assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh''s Bastar District.

Polling in these booths was affected during the first phase on November 14 due to Naxal violence.

In Madhya Pradesh, campaigning is on in full swing with just two days left for polls.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the filing of nomination papers for the fifth phase of polling will end by this evening. Polls are to be held on December 13 in 11 assembly segments spread over three districts of Kathua, Pulwama and Shopian.

In Rajasthan campaigning is in full swing.

Chhattisgarh polls tomorrow

ChhattisgarhRaipur, Nov 19 : Elections for 51 seats in the 90-member House, in eight districts of Chhattisgarh will be held tomorrow during the second and final phase of Assembly polls in the state.

Political future of 687 candidates including 50 women will be sealed in the EVMs tomorrow with 88,14,228 voters expected to exercise their franchise.

Violence disrupts polling in Chhattisgarh

ChhattisgarhRaipur, Nov 14 : The polling process in at least six booths in Chhattisgarh''s Bastar division was disrupted today due to looting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The Election Commission has been urged to order a re-poll in these booths.

Polling was underway in 39 of the total 90 constituencies in the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly election.

According to sources, the Maoist naxalites looted EVMs at Hagrawa village in Dantewada district after triggering a blast near the polling booth.

Raipur, Nov. 12 : Campaigning for first phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh will come to an end this eveining.

The polling for 39 of the 90 constituencies will be held on Friday (November 14).

The political future of State Chief Minister Raman Singh, State Assembly Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey, Leader of Opposition Mahendra and former Congress minister Ravindra Choubey will be decided in these polls. Singh is among 383 candidates who will be in the fray in the first phase.
