Sikh devotees commemorate Guru Gobind''s 342nd birth anniversaryAmritsar/Patna, Jan. 3 : Millions of Sikh devotees participated in the 342nd birth anniversary celebrations of their tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh.

In Patna, the birth place of Guru Gobind Singh, processions were taken out on Friday ahead of the celebrations on Saturday.

Free langars (meals) are also arranged and prasad (holy food) distributed.

Cold wave grips Bihar

Patna, Dec 18 : The sudden dip in temperature during last four days has brought about a chill in the weather, making life difficult for people in Bihar.

Locals covered in woollens made their way through the blanket of fog, which enveloped Patna.

People could be seen huddled around fires to keep themselves warm and those sleeping on roadside were wrapped in quilts and blankets to protect themselves from the biting chill.

"It is very cold in Patna these days. We are surviving somehow in this biting cold by lighting fires and warming ourselves," said Prabhat Kumar, a resident.

Huge cache of arms seized from Maoist rebels in Bihar

Patna, Bihar Patna, Nov 11 : Bihar Police today seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Maoist rebels hiding at Akbarpur village of Makhdumpur block in Jahanabad district.

According to police, after getting a tip-off, they conducted a raid at Chandradeep Yadav''s house in Akbarpur village of Makhdumpur block in Jahanabad district and seized huge quantity of explosives.

Chandradeep Yadav has been taken into custody.

Patna court to hear Raj Thackeray case on November 14Patna, Nov 9 : A court in Patna has fixed November 14 for the hearing of a petition seeking initiation of criminal proceedings against Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray for instigating party activists to assault north-Indian aspirants for railway jobs in Mumbai.

The matter was listed for November 8, but could not be taken up. The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Patna then decided that it would be heard on November 14.
