Gavaskar, Richards all time favourites of Miandad

Lahore, Mar 2 : Pakistan former skipper Javed Miandad listed former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar and West Indian Vivian Richards as his all time favorite players.

"I admired lot of players but I loved watching Viv and Gavaskar. They are my favorite players," Miandad said after accepting the cap that marked his entry into the ICC''s Hall of Fame that includes 55 players.

Attending the ceremony to award Hall of Fame Caps to Miandad and Hanif Mohammad at the Gaddafi stadium, Miandad listed his innings at Sharjah against India as the best of his life, The Nation reported.

PCB demands ‘doubled’ package as women’s team sponsorship rights

Pakistan Cricket BoardKarachi, Mar. 1 : Suffering from huge financial crunch, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now sought to sell the sponsorship rights for World Cup-bound Pakistan women's cricket team on double the amount it is being offered currently.

According to The Nation, the PCB has asked a multinational oil marketing company to double its bid if it wants to sponsor the women's team.

The company had offered an undisclosed amount for the two year term sponsorship, but the PCB rejected the offer.

Suspected US missile strike leaves nine dead in Pakistan

Pakistan and United States Islamabad  - Two missiles believed to have been fired from a US drone Sunday on a militant hideout in Pakistan's restive tribal region near the Afghan border killed at least nine people, a media report said.

Fourteen people were also injured in the attack that took place in Sararogha area of tribal district South Waziristan, a known sanctuary of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants launching cross border attacks on US-led international forces in Afghanistan.

The missile attack demolished a mud compound, reported Urdu- language Aaj news channel.

PakistanIslamabad  - A firebrand Muslim cleric in Pakistan's volatile Swat valley Sunday warned authorities of protests if the government failed to set up Islamic courts in the region by mid-March.

Sufi Mohammad set the deadline two weeks after signing a deal with the regional government in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), trading off an end to militancy for enforcement of sharia laws in Malakand division, of which Swat is a district.
