Zardari seeks remedy to undo disqualification of Sharif brothersIslamabad, Mar 2 : President Asif Ali Zardari is considering various options to seek a remedy to the Sharif brothers’ disqualification issue, even through an act of Parliament.

Zardai held consultations with inner circles of the PPP to find out ways to resolve the stand; The Nation quoted sources, as saying.

Sources privy to these developments said Zardari is inclined to engage coalition partners, particularly the ANP and JUI (F) to mediate between the PPP and the PML-N.

Shahbaz said that though “I am not a saint, but know that the soul of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto will be with us in the long march and sit-in to realise the dream vis-a-vis of restoration of the deposed judges and independence of judiciary in the country.”

Pakistani kidnappers set four-day deadline to kill UN officialLahore, Mar 2 : The kidnappers of United Nations' official John Solecki have set a four-day deadline for the Pakistan Government to meet their demands.

The Balochistan Liberation United Front, the group that claimed responsibility for the abduction, have sent a letter to a news agency in Quetta warning that Solecki would be killed if their demands are not met.

"If our demands are not met, then we will kill him, and state agencies will be responsible for it," the group said in the letter.

Lahore, Mar 2 : US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Michael Mullen and Pakistani Army Chief General Ashfaq Kayani have forged "the most important relationship between both countries" through nine meetings, according to Newsweek.

Initially, the two officials differed over strategies on fighting the Taliban, the article said: "Mullen suggested ways Pakistan could help in the war on terror; Kayani disputed even the use of the term. Mullen has pressed Kayani to worry less about India and more about al Qaeda; Kayani counters with pleas for promised military gear."

But the magazine cites two important meetings as the turning point in the ties between both top military officials, the Daily Times reports.
