New York, Feb 28 : American comedian Ed McMahon has been admitted into the intensive care, as he is reportedly suffering from pneumonia and bone cancer.

McMahon, 85, who is best known as Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" sidekick, was admitted to a California hospital three weeks ago, his publicist Howard Bragman said.

"He''s a fighter. He''s a Marine. He''s a strong man, and we remain hopeful at this point," the New York Daily News quoted Bragman as saying.

"He''s not the type of guy you count out," he added.

New York, February 28  The White House has released an official portrait of Michelle Obama featuring her clad in a sleeveless black shift dress by noted American designer Michael Kors, which will typify her signature style during her stint as U. S. First Lady.

According to reports, Michelle's dress in the portrait is a black version of a red gown in bonded crepe jersey, which was shown in Kors's spring 2009 show `Project Runway', on the back of which he became one of the most visible designers.

New York  - The US government and Citigroup Inc have cut a deal on the government substantially increasing its stake in the ailing bank, the Treasury announced Friday.

Under the agreement, the government will own as much as 36 per cent of the bank's shares in exchange for better access to Treasury funds, which could help Citigroup avoid bankruptcy.

The part-nationalization of what was once the world's largest bank has fuelled speculation that more financial institutions could face a similar government takeover.

New York, February 27: Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez and her Grammy-winner husband Marc Anthony have filed a lawsuit for more than five million dollars against one Silver Cross Ltd., accusing the company of illegally used their photos in the advertisements of its prams.

According to the suit filed in federal court on Wednesday, the couple claim that the company used a photo of them doting over adorable twins Max and Emme in old-fashioned Silver Cross prams, which fetch a whopping 3,000 dollars each.

New York  - US automotive giant General Motors Corp on Thursday reported a 30.9-billion-dollar loss in 2008, the second- biggest in its 100-year history.

The final year tally came after fourth-quarter losses of 9.6 billion dollars, a figure that underscores the dire situation the company finds itself in as it battles for survival.

The losses came as sales plunged by double-digit figures in the recession-hit US economy. For the full year, sales dropped 17 per cent to 149 billion dollars.
