Lennon complained about security at apartment 7 months before being killedNew York, February 28: Just seven months before John Lennon was shot dead, he had reportedly complained about the lack of security at his Dakota apartment.

The complaint was made through a handwritten note, which is selling for 54,000 dollars at mementsintime. com.

Lennon wrote the memo to his aide Fred Seaman on 28 April 1980.

"Explain to me why we are sleeping here with a front door that any nut can open (it doesn''t lock). People know I''m here . . ," the New York Post quoted the note as reading.

Lennon was murdered in front of the historic Central Park West building on 8 December 1980. (ANI)
