Vettori clears the air with Haddin ahead of MCG ODI

Melbourne, Feb. 5 : New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori''s text messaged Australian wicketkeeper Brad Haddin to clear the air following the glove affair in Sunday''s one-day match, and both players are happy to move on.

Kiwis skipper Vettori told Haddin he in no way intended to refer to the wicketkeeper as a cheat, after questioning his role in the dismissal of batsman Neil Broom, which replays showed should have been no-balled because Haddin''s gloves were in front of the stumps.

Haddin thanked Vettori in a reply text and said he would also like to put the incident behind them. Earlier that day, Haddin had attacked Vettori for questioning his integrity.

Symonds in horns of IPL-baggy green dilemma

Melbourne, Feb. 5 : Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds will have two months of intense reflection to decide whether he will become the first Australian star to choose Indian Premier League riches over a baggy green cap.

The troubled cricketer, banned from touring South Africa after his latest disciplinary dramas, will be available for Australian selection again at the time the IPL is about to start in April.

Symonds will be 34 this year and, at best, may have 18 months of international cricket ahead of him considering his troublesome knee is causing him increasing problems, reports The Australian.

NAB announced the decision in separate briefings to its staff and Satyam employees at Melbourne's Telstra Dome this morning, sources close to the company said.

The termination of ITO Wave 2 is likely to see working visas revoked for the 100 Satyam staff.

Jenner believes McGain could be Ponting''s surprise weapon in South Africa

Australia are desperately searching for the X-factor at the top of the order and with the ball following the retirement of Matthew Hayden, injuries to spearheads Stuart Clark and Brett Lee, and the ongoing void left by Warne.

Jenner believes Victorian leg-spinner McGain has the tricks and the temperament to torment the Proteas as Warne did in taking 61 wickets at 24.31 in 12 Tests across the Rainbow Nation.

Clarke decides to miss out on IPL 2009

Melbourne, Feb. 5 : Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke has ruled himself out of this year''s Indian Premier League, citing Australia's busy international schedule.

"I won''t be going to the IPL. The most important thing for me is we''ve only got a couple of weeks off; we''ve got a very busy schedule. With me, with my body and time with my family, I want time off this year,'''' Fox Sports quoted Clarke, as saying.

Clarke, however, described the Twenty20 format as wonderful for the development of cricket in the long term, and added he could understand why so many other players did want to play in the Indian competition.
