Yellow’s the fashion mantra to beat the global gloom in 2009

Melbourne, Dec 4 : Going out to do some shopping for the New Year? Well, then make sure that your ‘buy-list’ includes the colour yellow, for a leading source has predicted that the cheerful and sunny shade is the influential colour of 2009.

Pantone, which provides colour standards to design industries, has specifically cited "mimosa" as its top shade of the New Year.

“Mimosa” is a vibrant shade of yellow illustrated by the flowers of some mimosa trees as well as the brunch-favourite cocktail.

Generally, Pantone is hoping that people would adopt many tones of optimistic yellow.

Melbourne, Dec. 4 : Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has assured his fans that his well-publicised wrist injury is little more than a niggle and it will, hopefully, be healed by the end of the summer.

Ponting visited surgeon Greg Hoy in Melbourne today for a scan on his right wrist - which has previously been operated on - and was told there no need for cortisone injections or other treatment for the injury.

"It was not a necessity for me to go and see the surgeon, it was more of a check-up," Ponting said.

"As everyone knows, I''ve had a bit of discomfort over the past few months but most players on the international scene have a bit of pain they''ve got to carry through every season," he added.

YouTube clamps down on ''sexually suggestive'' content

Melbourne, Dec 4 : In an attempt to clean up its content, YouTube has announced that it is cracking down on "sexually suggestive" videos.

On its blog, the popular video-sharing website, said it would be enforcing a "stricter standard for mature content" and "tightening the standard for what is considered ''sexually suggestive.''"

YouTube, the Google-owned website, has already banned users to post pornographic content on the website.

"Videos with sexually suggestive (but not prohibited) content will be age-restricted, which means they''ll be available only to viewers who are 18 or older," News. com. au quoted YouTube as saying.

Red cars least prone to crashes!

Melbourne, Dec 4 : Your car’s colour can help you avoid a crash, especially when visibility is low, reveals a new study.

According to the NRMA Insurance research, light or brightly coloured cars are about 10 per cent less likely to be a part of crashes during dusk, dawn and other times.

The research also found that red was considered to be a safe car colour, however, the popular colour silver was not thought to be harmless.

White, yellow, cream, beige and red were amongst the safest car colours. Green, black, blue and silver cars rated poorly for visibility.
