Priests sign 1.4M pounds record deal

Melbourne, Dec 5 : Three middle-aged Irishmen who called themselves the Priests, and signed a 1.4million pounds record deal, released their self-titled debut album in Britain two weeks ago.

The album by Eugene O''Hagan, his younger brother Martin, and their long-time friend David Delargy has entered the charts at No5, and it was released in Australia this week.

O''Hagan, who runs his parish of Ballyclare and Ballygowan in Northern Ireland, is very humble with the prospect of landing at the top of the British album charts.

“If that happens it will be another little miracle,” the Australian quoted him as saying.

Oz passengers getting too heavy for buses!

Melbourne, Dec 5 : Bus passengers in Sydney are so heavy that the Federal Government is being asked to review the loading capacity of buses, which is currently set at 65kg per person.

In fact, health experts have said, if taken practically, the average weight should rather be taken around 72kg, given most buses only contain adults.

The Government said it was reviewing national bus standards but not specifically passenger weights.

"The Australian Government has been reviewing Australian Design Rule 58 as part of an ongoing review of the Australian Design Rules," The Daily Telegraph quoted a transport department spokesman as saying.

Consumers don''t go by the hype surrounding a gadget

The survey conducted by PC Authority magazine involved 20,000 customers and ranked several hyped items last for reliability and service.

The survey, which lasted for a year named Sony mp3 Walkmans as the best music players, followed by iRiver and Samsung units.

However, despite all the hoopla surrounding Apple''s iPod range, it did not feature in the top three consumer favourites.

Blanchett convinced Pitt to star in ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’

Melbourne, Dec 5 : Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett has revealed that she had to convince Brad Pitt to star in their upcoming film ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’.

The movie is said to be loosely based on a story by F Scott Fitzgerald, which revolves around a baby called Benjamin who is born as an old man.

While Pitt plays the lead role, Blanchett costars as his ageing girlfriend, Daisy.

In an interview to British Vogue, the Australian actress said that Pitt was initially unsure whether to do the film.

"I don''t blame him," The Age quoted her as saying.

"I think he was just thinking, six hours, every day, in make-up.

"It''s quite wearisome.
