Malegaon blast accused charged under MCOCAThe Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharastra has decided to invoke the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the 10 accused in the Malegaon blast, including Sadhvi Pragya Chandrapal Singh Thakur and Lt Col Srikant Prasad Purohit.

Under MCOCA, the ATS will get six months to file a charge sheet against the accused; it's 90 days under other laws.

ATS chief Hemant Karkare said that the investigations into Malegaon blast are on the verge of completion.

DHL partners UNICEF to empower communities to improve child survival in Maharashtra

Maharashtra, DhuleNew Delhi, Nov. 18 : DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company, today announced its partnership with UNICEF and the Government of India in support of efforts to reduce malnutrition and infant mortality in the Nandurbar District of Maharashtra, India.

DHL’s grant will fund a three-year UNICEF project to empower communities to improve child survival rates in 1,000 villages in Maharashtra.

HC refuses to interfere with state’s ban of ‘Deshdrohi’  The Maharashtra state’s ban on the screening of Kamaal Khan’s ‘Deshdrohi’, under Section 6 of the Bombay Cinema Regulation Act, will continue for the present, as the Bombay High Court on Monday refused to interfere with the state’s order. Nevertheless, a division bench of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice Sharad Bobde asked the government to give a hearing to the film’s producer and pass a fresh order by November 20.

Maharashtra court extends judicial custody of Pragya Singh in Malegaon blast case

MaharashtraNashik/Bhopal/Lucknow/Ambala, Nov 17 : A court in Nashik in Maharashtra on Monday extended the judicial custody of Sadhavi Pragya Singh, arrested in connection with the September 29 Malegaon blast case, till November 29.

The judicial custody of seven others, apart from Singh were also extended

The accused were produced before Joint Senior Civil Judge H. K. Ganatra after their remand to judicial custody expired today.
