Warsaw/Vilnius - Poland and Lithuania established on Monday a joint venture responsible for plugging in three EU Baltic countries to the circuit of the rest of the European Union.

Vilnius  - A new political party in Lithuania featuring the Baltic nation's famous people failed to muster enough delegates at its inaugural congress, local media reported on Monday.

Riga/Vilnius - The parliaments of Lithuania and Latvia on Thursday ratified the European Union's Lisbon Treaty, bringing to 13 the number of member states signed off on the document.

Vilnius - The Lithuanian parliament after a lengthy debate on Tuesday recognized the independence of Kosovo, adopting a resolution urging the government to establish the diplomatic relations with the breakaway Serbian region.

On April 1, the parliament failed to adopt a similar resolution. Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus welcomed the new independent state on February 17, but Lithuanian law requires the parliament to officially recognize another country.

Kosovo declared independence from Serbia on February 17.
