Hamas: No preconditions to Israeli ceasefire

HamasKuwait City, Doha - The head of militant Palestinian organization Hamas' political bureau in Damascus, Khaled Meshaal, has said that the group will not accept any preconditions to a ceasefire by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

Meshaal was speaking on Friday before a meeting of Arab leaders in Qatar, adding that the Palestinian movement in Gaza "had not suffered a defeat," and that they would therefore not accept any preconditions of the opponent.

According to sources, the proposed joint venture conglomerate will execute business of purchase, import, retail and wholesale trading of sunglasses, eyewear, contact lenses and opticals.

The JV will distribute other similar products and related accessory under different brand names.

Former Kuwaiti prime minister re-appointedKuwait City  - Kuwait's emir reappointed on Wednesday former prime minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammed al-Sabah, who resigned last month, and asked him to form a new cabinet, the official KUNA news agency reported.

The Kuwaiti government resigned on November 25 in an effort to prevent parliament from questioning the prime minister about a visit to Kuwait by a Shiite Iranian cleric, who was banned from visiting the Gulf state.

On November 18, three Sunni lawmakers called for the questioning of the prime minister.

Kuwait FlagKuwait City - Kuwaiti's emir on Monday accepted the resignation of the government and reappointed Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah as prime minister with the task of forming a new administration, the Dubai based al-Arabiya news channel reported.

Emir Sabah al-Ahmed al-Sabah's move came after the government resigned on November 25 in an effort to prevent parliament from questioning the prime minister about a visit to Kuwait by a Shiite Iranian cleric, who deputies claimed had insulted Sunni Muslims and was banned from entering the country.

Kuwait government resigns to prevent questioning of premier

Kuwait FlagKuwait City - Kuwait's government resigned on Tuesday to prevent the country's parliament from questioning the prime minister, Dubai based al-Arabiya channel reported.

Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi called off a parliamentary session after the government refused to attend.

Some members of parliament had wanted to question Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad al-Sabah about a visit to Kuwait by a Shiite Iranian cleric, who they claimed had insulted Sunni Muslims.

Kuwait, which has a Sunni majority, is just across a narrow body of water from majority-Shiite Iran.
